Last night I watched Anna Karenina for the first time. To clarify, that’s the new one with Keira Knightley and Jude Law. Other than being utterly transfixed by the revolutionary style it was filmed in (all within a theatre, creating the illusion of all the world being a stage), I was mesmerised by the costumes – in particular the hats.
So I’m starting a new feature, celebrating the hats we see in films. Read on to delve into the luxurious, lust-inspiring hat collection of Anna Karenina…
Keira Knightley, in my opinion, is born to wear these period dresses, and no one pulls them off like her. Her wardrobe in The Duchess is simply stunning, and I wish I could wear all her dresses all the time. This hat here is sumptuous, and I don’t think I even need to say anything more about it. Just look.
I think I’ve mentioned before that I’m completely enamoured of these hats, and she wears them with panache.
You can see a couple more hats in the background here, just to show how stunning every single one is.
